At the end of the Nei Wan railway line is a fascinating old logging and mining town, and getting there is as easy as getting on a train. ___1___

Although the logging industry destroyed much of the beautiful hardwood forests around Nei Wan, many towering old trees still stand, even in the town itself. ___2___ With cozy cafés and restaurants serving traditional Hakka food, including sticky rice dumplings flavored with wild ginger flower root, Nei Wan is filled with unique charm. Even more magic, however, awaits you outside the village.

虽然林业破坏不少内湾附近美丽的阔叶林，但即使在村中，仍有许多高耸的老树屹立。如内湾国小旁的老树就超过两百岁。有着恬适的咖啡屋及餐厅供应典型的客家菜，包括野姜花做的粽子。内湾充满了独特的魅力，然而村外还有更大的魔力等着呢。

___3___ They lead through bamboo forests, past waterfalls, and under plum trees that blossom in winter. But the star attraction of Nei Wan this time of year is the fireflies.

Just before dusk, head towards the Tung Wo Brook north Nei Wan. ___4___The thousands of pinpoints of dancing lights create a scene that has been compared to gazing at the Milky Way itself.

Because bright light disrupts the fireflies’ mating process, flashlights should be turned off as soon as fireflies are spotted, or not even used at all. ___5___ And be prepared to see Nei Wan’s finest magic – the glorious firefly show.
