There is much appeal to wearing contact lenses, both for looks and practical purposes. Many people feel they look better without glasses on. Other people use contacts while exercising, and still others dislike how their glasses fog up when they eat soup.
Hard contacts are the original contact, but are difficult to apply, and are uncomfortable compared to soft lenses. Thus, most people prefer soft silicone contacts which come in two varieties: extended and disposable. Extended lenses are meant to be used for months, and wearers must clean them regularly. Disposables are sold based on how long they should be worn: daily, weekly, monthly or longer.
But every convenience has its drawbacks. For example, contact lenses can make a person’s eyes dry. A wearer's eyes can also become irritated through the use of everyday products, such as makeup and hairspray, which can get under contact lenses. It’s important to figure out if contacts are right for you before you ditch your glasses to see the world in a new way.
