Q: What was Gmail used for before it became popular? Gmail
(A) It was a website for college students.
(B) It was an email service for Garfield fans.
(C) It was only for employees of Google.
A: You didn’t need to Google the answer if you picked B. Many people all over the world use the free email service Gmail, but the website was originally owned by Garfield.com, the official site of the comic character. Any Garfield fan who wrote a letter to the orange cat received a reply from gmail.com, until Google bought the site in 2005.
Q: What is the highest point on Earth?
(A) Mount Everest (圣母峰) in Tibet.
(B) Mount Fuji (富士山) Japan.
(C) Mount Chimborazo (钦博拉索山) in Ecuador.
A: You have a mountain of knowledge if you guessed C! The Earth is wider along the Equator, so someone standing there is closer to outer space than they are anywhere else on the planet. This means that Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador is actually the highest point on the planet. In fact, it’s about 2.4 kilometers higher than Mount Everest!

Q: How much food do hummingbirds eat each day?
(A) Just enough to survive the day.
(B) Enough to survive for a week.
(C) They eat every three days.
A: You can hum yourself a tune if you picked A! Hummingbirds beat their wings so quickly that burn up almost all the energy they get each day. They beat their wings from 12 to 80 times per second, which gives them the fastest metabolism of any animal on Earth. Thus, even though they consume twice their weight in nectar each day, they’re nearly starving almost every time they eat.
Q: Which character was removed from the alphabet but is still used today?
(A) The “~” symbol. 符号~
(B) The “@” symbol. 符号@
(C) The “&” symbol. 符号&
A: You’re a person of letters if you guessed C! From popular brands and magazines to businesses, the “&,” or ampersand, is everywhere. The symbol, which means “and,” dates back 1,500 years to the ancient Romans. It is a combination of “e” and “t,” because et is Latin for and. Up until the 1800s, it was part of the alphabet that every child had learned in school and came right after “z.”
