Two freshmen premed students, Cynthia and Martin, meet to study together:  两位医预科的学生辛西雅和马丁约好一起读书：

C: What are you doing with an ice pack on your forehead?

M: I want to go down in medical history as the one who discovers a cure for headaches. Ohhh - my head is really throbbing.

我想成为医学史上发明治愈头痛妙方的人。喔喔──我的头真的很痛。

C: Martin, there’s already a cure. Why don’t you just take a couple of aspirin?

马丁，已经有特效药了啊。你为什么不吃几颗阿斯匹林？

M: I’d love to, but I can’t stomach them. Don’t you know that they can cause ulcers?

我很想，但我的胃受不了。你不知道它们会造成溃疡吗？

C: Sure, but not in a small doses.

M: Ok. I’ll try it. But how does the aspirin know to go to my head and not to go to my little toe that I stubbed last night?

C: Drugs like aspirin allow you to kill two birds with one stone: they work no matter where the pain is.

M: Oh yes, here it is: After dissolving into the bloodstream, aspirin slows the production of the enzyme which makes the body feel pain.

C: That’s right. Aspirin lowers the volume of pain by reducing the number of pain signals produced by all parts of the body.

M: You’re going to make a great doctor one day.

C: Not if we don’t get started on this term paper.
