One hot summer day, Paul enters his girlfriend Julia’s apartment:  炎夏某日，保罗走进女友茱莉亚的公寓：

J: You’re just in time for some vichyssoise, the famous French cold potato soup.

P: Cold soup!? Oh, right. I tried vichyssoise on a business trip. Apparently, a French chef working at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York invented the recipe.

J: Really? Maybe he wanted a refreshing summer dish and to save money. With little more than 3 large potatoes and the white part of 4 leeks cut up, you have a healthy summer soup.

P: You make it sound easy.

J: It’s as easy as un, deux, trios. Just put the cut up vegetables in a pot with 3 liters of chicken stock (or water), salt and pepper to taste, bring it to a boil, simmer for 20 minutes, then refrigerate when it cools down.

P: Right. I presume you skimmed the fat off the top to make it healthier, but how did you find leeks? They aren’t that common.

J: The grocer had some fresh leeks, but you can use white onion instead.
