Youth Job Law Dropped  废除青年就业法

In a demonstration of the power of organized protest, the French government bowed to the will of the people. Opposition to the Youth Job Law bridged the gap between older workers and students. After strikes and violent protests that closed down schools and universities, the government stated that it will not pass the new labor law.

有组织的群众在示威抗议中表达不满，法国政府终于顺从了民意。高龄员工和学生摒弃代沟共同反对青年就业法。在罢工和激烈抗议行动瘫痪了大学院校的运作后，政府声明将不会通过新就业法。

The law was meant to reform labor laws in the hope that the high youth unemployment rate of 23 percent could be lowered. It would have made it easier for employers to fire young workers during their first two years of employment. Throughout the crisis, bitter divisions within the government were exposed. By backing down, President Jacques Chirac suffered a major defeat.

这项立法的原意是为了改革劳工法，希望降低青年高达23%的失业率。此法授权雇主可在年轻员工的头两年雇期内可轻易开除他们。这项危机暴露出这个右倾政府本身存在的严重分歧。总统席哈克屈就民意，遭受极大的挫败。

Windows on Your Mac  苹果、窗口大结合

A new piece of software called Boot Camp has been released by Apple Computer. This program allowed Mac users to run Microsoft Windows on their Macs without compromising speed. Because of their widespread use in the business world, many of the Microsoft programs are often considered mission-critical. Now users can run Microsoft programs such as Access and Outlook, while still keeping their Mac’s excellent music, photo, and movie-making capabilities. However, Boot Camp requires the machine to be rebooted when switching between operating systems. Another program, called Parallels Workstation, allows Mac users to run both operating systems at the same time. Both new programs are being hailed for their ability to bring the two worlds of Windows and Mac onto a level playing field.
