You may not be aware of it, but whenever you write a report or compose a poem, your work is actually protected by law from being copied by others. ___1___
Copyright exists to protect the actual expression of an idea rather than the idea itself. ___2___ In Taiwan, copyright comes into force as soon as a work is created, with no special procedures involved.
___3___ For this purpose, an organization called Creative Commons was established in 2001. It offers creators a “some rights reserved” license, so they can protect certain aspects of their work while still allowing others to use it. ___4___ This is also worthwhile for educational purposes, where knowledge can be shared more quickly and easily. ___5___

(E) This is what is known as “copyright,” a type of legislation designed to safeguard the rights of those responsible for a piece of creative work.
