The latest Bond thriller, a sequel to the 2006 success “Casino Royale,” follows 007 as he faces his next mission. Hurt by the death of Vesper, the woman he loved, and struggling to keep his personal emotions under control, Bond sets out to discover the truth behind those she worked for – the mysterious Quantum organization. Bond’s hunt leads him to Dominic Greene, a cold and dangerous businessman and a major player in the Quantum organization.

Agent 007 discovers Greene’s evil scheme to overthrow the current government of Bolivia for reasons that become clear during the movie. However, Greene is not alone in his ambitious plan – the CIA and the British government are also somehow involved, making Bond’s search for the truth all the more dangerous.

“Quantum of Solace” is filled with heart-racing action sequences that have become typical of Bond movies. In one scene, Bond star Daniel Craig had to run through a burning building with explosions going off all around him – not a usual day’s work for most actors!

Dangerous stunts play a central role in any James Bond film, though. In fact, for many years, Bond films have dazzled us with death-defying acts even without the benefit of today’s sophisticated special effects technology. For example, for the opening sequence of “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1997), a stunt man skied off the edge of the 2,000-meter-tall Mount Asgard, free-falling through the air before finally opening his parachute to safety. Today, the same feat may have been accomplished using camera tricks and editing techniques.

In “Live and Let Die,” Bond stunt man, Ross Kananga, had to step across a row of real, snapping crocodiles to reach the safety of land. In one take, the last crocodile grabbed hold of his heel, threatening to drag him into the water! Luckily, Kananga was wearing sturdy boots and managed to escape!
