Tonight, breaking news. At least two people are dead and multiple people injured, including police officers after a church shooting on this Sunday in Kentucky and dangerous weather from coast to coast, including a flash flood threat in the northeast.
First, authorities say the Kentucky incident started with a trooper involved shooting near the airport.

Police say the suspect fleeing the scene after a carjacking before ending up at a Baptist Church in Lexington. The new details coming in tonight. Rivers rising again in the same areas devastated by the catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River in central Texas.

02:29 Church shooting in Kentucky leaves at least two dead
But we begin with breaking news. At least two people are dead and several others injured, including police officers after a church shooting on this Sunday in Lexington, Kentucky. Authorities saying moments ago that two women were killed.
Police say it started when the suspect was pulled over for a traffic stop, later ending up at that church. The suspected gunman was killed by police authorities, saying tonight he may have had a connection to the individuals at that church. ABC’ s Alex Presha leads us off tonight.
Tonight, authorities investigating a deadly shooting at a Kentucky Baptist Church. A gunman opening fire, killing two women and injuring two others.
The suspect was shot by responding law enforcement and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say it all started just after 11 30 this morning. According to officers, the suspect's vehicle was stopped by police near Bluegrass Airport in Lexington after a license plate alert the suspect shooting at a state trooper before fleeing the scene. And after carjacking another vehicle, police say he made his way to Richmond Road Baptist Church.
The suspect fired his weapon at individuals on church property. Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had a connection to the individuals at the church.
First responders rushing the injured to a nearby hospital.
Police say one of the victims injured in the church is in critical condition. The injured state trooper and another church victim are stable. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear posting on X. Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence.

The two women killed 72 year old Beverly Gum and 32 year old Christina Combs.

Now to the life threatening flash flood warnings in central Texas.
Heavy rain causing the Lampasas River to rise more than 30 ft in just four hours. Residents of Kerrville, one of the area's hardest hit by the catastrophic flooding, warned to move to higher ground earlier today, and the northeast is now facing a flash flood threat. ABC's Jaclyn Lee reporting once again from Kerrville, Texas.
Tonight, dangerous weather across the country. New images from Texas amid a fresh round of flash flood warnings.
In central Texas roads shut down by fast moving floodwaters. Governor Greg Abbott writing, responders have rescued dozens of Texans from the area.
Ground efforts halted in Kerrville, where crews are still searching for the missing after last week's flooding claimed at least 129 lives.
The rain really coming down here in Kerr County, items now washing down the Guadalupe River, including these piles of debris.
And in Florida lightning striking three in St. Augustine Beach. Out west, hot and dry conditions fueling two blazes in the Grand Canyon and destroying between 50 to 80 structures, including a historic North Rim Lodge.
Together, the fires burning more than 45,000 acres and wildfires in Canada also pushing smoke into parts of the Midwest, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan under air quality alerts.
Back in Texas, families grappling with grief in the aftermath of that fatal flooding. Matthew and Elizabeth Hammond say the last time they saw their 17 year old daughter Malaya alive, she was floating on her back down a raging creek.
Just being devastated. I'm never actually gonna be able to see her again.
But the family's van falling into raging floodwaters, I felt myself go under and have the thought like, oh my gosh, is this it?
Malaya's body later discovered a mile away.
She looked so peaceful and I was able to hold her one last time the way I did when she was a baby.
The next day, a handwritten letter from Malaya arriving in their mailbox.
I miss and love you guys so much. I don't feel like it was an accident.
Martha, after this tragedy, some families like the Hammonds receiving a little bit of closure, but there are still more than 160 people still missing.

Two, yes, Martha. The first, unfortunately, Texas where heavy rain and thunderstorms continue to track through taking a look at the radar.
Thankfully, this morning's torrential rain is moving east, but the flash flood threat lingers for at least the next few hours.
The second areas in the northeast with flood watches from Virginia to upstate New York scattered storms bring heavy downpours this evening, with another round developing tomorrow afternoon.
Hot and dry weather. That's the headline in the west, fueling those wildfires with heat advisories from Spokane to Fresno. After a brief break on Monday, Portland is up to 97 degrees on Wednesday, while southern Nevada is starting the work week with an extreme heat warning.

07:52 Mexico and the EU brace for hefty tariffs from President Trump
President Trump is threatening the European Union and Mexico with 30% tariffs. The EU Now warning of countermeasures if the tariffs kick in on august 1st, the uncertainty to for small businesses. Here's ABC senior White House correspondent Selena Wang.

Tonight, America's biggest trading partners reeling, scrambling to keep up with trump's ever shifting tariff policy. The president announcing sweeping 30% tariffs on goods from Mexico and the European Union after months of negotiation.

Trump vowed to make 90 deals in 90 days, but instead he's sending official letters to countries declaring new tariff rates set to take effect on august 1st.
He's backed off on deadlines before. So the key question now?

Is this a negotiating tactic? Are these tariffs real? Well, these tariffs are real. If the president doesn't get a deal that he thinks is good enough.
The president also threatening 25% tariffs on Japan and South Korea, 35% tariffs on Canada and massive 50% tariffs on Brazil.
And tonight, small businesses left in limbo. We first met Amy Rutherford back in April at her toy store in Virginia after Trump hit China with staggering 145% tariffs that he later walked back.

We caught up again with Amy. She's still facing uncertainty. We're stressed out.
We don't know. Are we gonna have to take loans out to make sure that we have the dollars that we need to fill our stores?
Nearly everything in her store is made in China or comes from European vendors.
Foreign countries do not pay for the cost of tariffs.
I pay for it, you pay for it. My customers are gonna pay for it. They're already paying for it right now.

But while we have you there, what are we learning about the growing backlash over the FBI and DOJ’s decision to close the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Well, Martha, President Trump is defending his attorney general, Pam Bondi, even as some of his most loyal supporters are calling for her resignation.
The president took to social media saying she's doing a fantastic job and tonight he's watching the FIFA soccer match alongside Bondi and others in his presidential box. Martha.

10:08 A small plane crashes, sending a thick column of smoke into the air outside of London
Next tonight, a plane crash at Southend Airport about one hour east of London.
Witnesses reported seeing a terrifying fireball in the sky and plumes of smoke. Authorities say a small plane was involved in a collision. Emergency crews descending on the scene.
We have more now from ABC's Lama Hasan.

At around four o'clock this afternoon, police were alerted to what they're calling a serious incident involving a small twin engine turbo prop like this one.

It was bound for the Netherlands. Initial reports suggest there was a collision. Flight radar shows the plane's path.
Watch as it travels down the runway. One eyewitness says he saw the plane taking off, but just 3-4 seconds later it started to bank to its left, then crashed into the ground.

I guess for the people of Southend, this is just a really shocking moment to have seen this happen.
The incident triggering a quick emergency response. Police warning people to avoid the airport until further notice.
Martha, an urgent investigation is underway to try to piece together what caused this accident.
Investigators will be taking a look at whether this was a mechanical failure or pilot error. The airport remains closed until further notice. Martha?

11:41 The pilots union reacts to an Air India report's findings
India's pilots union is blasting a preliminary report on the crash of Air India flight 171 calling it biased. According to the report, one pilot is heard on the cockpit voice recorder asking the other why he activated the 787's fuel cutoff switches. The second pilot denied moving them.
The union claims the report's tone creates a presumption of pilot guilt. ABC has obtained an internal message Air India sent to its pilots, asking them to review the preliminary report and bring any questions to management.

Now to President Trump teasing a major statement on Russia tomorrow.
This as he escalates criticism of Vladimir Putin amid a barrage of attacks on Ukraine, including more than 3000 drones, bombs and missiles over the past seven days. Here's ABC's Marcus Moore with what we're learning tonight.
Tonight, President Trump preparing for what he says will be a major announcement this week concerning Russia.
The game is about to change. I expect in the coming days you will see weapons flowing at a record level to help Ukraine defend themselves.
Sources tell ABC News the U. S. And NATO are looking at sending Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, but it's not clear what would come from European allies or U. S. Stockpiles.

Russia continued to hammer Ukraine this week, night after night from the air with more than 3000 drones, bombs and missiles.

14:25 Senate report highlights Secret Service failures in Trump assassination attempt
One year after the assassination attempt on then candidate Donald Trump, a Senate report is demanding more Secret Service accountability.
Last July 13th, a gunman opened fire during a Pennsylvania rally. Trump suffered a graze wound to his right ear, and a rally attendee was killed.

Today's report from Senator Rand Paul accuses the Secret Service of a complete security breakdown and limited accountability and calls for reforms to agency procedures.
Last week, six agents were suspended for what Secret Service called failures connected to the attack. In a statement today, the agency said it has implemented substantive reforms to address the failures that occurred that day.
15:09 Funeral held for American man killed in the West Bank
Hundreds attend the funeral of a Palestinian American killed in the West Bank amid calls for the US. To take action.
Saif Mouchelet's family says the Florida native was beaten to death Friday by Israeli settlers while visiting family.
The I. D. F. says there was a violent confrontation after stones were thrown at Israelis, and it is looking into the incident. Mouchelet's family wants an immediate U. S. State Department investigation.
A spokesperson tells ABC News the department confirmed the death of a U. S. citizen in the West Bank and that it has no higher priority than the safety and security of Americans overseas.

Hey, Martha. Tonight, Americans are really getting their first taste of the World Cup here in the U. S. Some of the world's top soccer stars are squaring off at MetLife Stadium here in New Jersey, usually home turf for the NFL's Jets and the Giants.

But today, tens of thousands of fans were braving the heat, packing the stands there to watch England's Chelsea take on Paris Saint Germain, better known as PSG. And Chelsea won this match 3 to zero.
Um, and as you can imagine, security was tight with President Trump and first lady Melania in the crowd joining the FIFA president for the national anthem.
And in just over a year, this stadium will be buzzing once again, maybe with the president back in the stands when it hosts the World Cup final on July 19th, 2026. Martha, the U. S. hasn't made it past the semifinal since 1930. So the question is, next year, could they go all the way?

Now to the escaped inmate who was all smiles heading back to jail. Law enforcement officials posed with Cedric Stevenson as they all flew from Seattle to Kentucky last week.

18:25 America Strong: Remembering volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore
Finally, tonight, America strong the emotional remembrance for a man who died protecting his family.
On this one year anniversary of the assassination attempt on then candidate Donald Trump. We remember Corey Comparatore.
The 50 year old volunteer firefighter was standing on the stage behind Trump when shots rang out, shielding his wife and daughters when he was struck by a bullet.
To mark the anniversary of his death. Comparatore's family and community honored him with Corey's cruise, a nearly 50 mile memorial motorcycle ride in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where the Trump rally had been held. His daughters, Allison and Kaylee organized the event.
All proceeds from the event will benefit causes close to Comparatore's heart, including local first responders, his church and a Doberman rescue organization.

He would be so surprised that there's so many people who care about him. I think he'd be in total awe.
