Lady Gaga is a megastar musician who needs little introduction. She exploded onto the scene in 2008 with her first album The Fame. Shortly after the album’s release she rose to the top of the charts, and made headlines with her unique fashion and stage shows. Her third album ARTPOP hit shelves this year and sold well.

Her second album’s title, Born This Way, is a motto for the singer. She often promotes the idea of self-acceptance during her shows to inspire her fans. Her most dedicated fans come from the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community. These individuals encounter difficulties in being accepted in society. She also created the Born This Way Foundation, an organization dedicated to encouraging “a more accepting society.”

Moreover, Time magazine has called her the second most influential icon of the decade.

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was born in 1986. Before she gained her fame, Stefani struggled to find herself. She attended an all-girl Catholic school in New York City, and was bullied by other classmates for being “too eccentric.” To escape this, she devoted herself to music.

女神卡卡的本名是史蒂芬妮．乔安妮．安洁莉娜．杰曼诺塔，出生于1986年。在成名以前，史蒂芬妮非常努力寻找自我。她在纽约一所天主教女校上学，因举止怪异而被其他同学霸凌。为了躲避这一切，她遂而献身于音乐。

Stefani’s musical talents were discovered early on. At age 14, she started performing on stage. She also took part in a number of school plays. After high school, she enrolled in a musical theater program. After a year of training though, she quit to pursue her music career.

史蒂芬妮的音乐才华很早就被发掘，她14岁就开始在舞台上表演，也参演了一些学校戏剧。中学毕业后，她注册就读一个音乐剧场课程；但在训练一年后即放弃学业去追求她的音乐生涯。

However, she didn’t find fame immediately. Even though she managed to record songs and even signed a contract, her first record label dropped her. Thus, her first year could be considered a failure. Nevertheless, Gaga refused to give up. She continued working on her music and persona, and finally earned a new record deal. Lady Gaga’s achievements show us that everyone faces their own challenges. No matter what stands in your way, keep at it and don’t give up, and eventually you’ll find your true self.
