As the Chinese New Year is approaching, it’s time to get ready for the year ahead. A great way to start off is by taking care of some year-end cleaning. Here is a simple and effective method of getting your room tidy and clean.
The essential first step is to ask yourself whether you really need to hang onto those old toys, books, etc. The only way to clear the clutter is to break emotional attachment to physical objects. If it’s trash, throw it away. If you haven’t used it for years, give it to charity. This process helps you be more thoughtful about buying new things or accepting gifts.
Once you’ve cleared the area, it’s time to eliminate dust. Since dirt doesn’t stick well to dry rags, use wet cloths instead. Mop or vacuum last, because the floor often gets dirty again in the process. Therefore, it’s wise to start up high by dusting ceiling lights and bookshelves. Also, playing music helps you move fast and stay on task. Finally, enjoy knowing that a smart and thorough cleaning is going to help you start your year right.
