A scientist who lives in 19^th-century England believes it is possible to move through time. So, he creates a time machine to test his theory. As soon as he finishes the machine, he gets inside it, sets the controls for the future, and hurdles through time.

19世纪，一名英国的科学家相信穿越时空是有可能的，因此，他创造了时光机器来测试这个理论。当他一完成时光机器，就进到机器内、把装置设定前往未来并穿越时空。

 

When the machine stops, he ends up in the year 802,701 AD. The Earth is so lush that it feels like one giant garden. Soon enough he’s greeted by humans who call themselves the Eloi. Luckily, they are peaceful and somewhat small people. The time traveler sees that their lives are very secure so they have become childish and weak

When he goes back to find his machine, he’s shocked to discover it has vanished. He looks around and notices a trail that leads to a small building nearby. The time traveler approaches the building and tries to open its doors but can’t. he begins to worry he will never return home.

The time traveler stays with the Eloi. One day, heseesan Eloi woman drowning in a river. He jumps into the water and saves the woman, whose name is Weena. She thanks him and they become good friends. After that, they go almost everywhere together.

时光旅人跟着伊洛人一起生活。有一天，他看到一名伊洛女子在河中溺水，便跳进河里解救了这名叫威娜的女子。她很感谢他，并与他成为了好友。从那之后，他们几乎形影不离。

 

Early one morning, he sees several white, apelike creatures in the forest. Shockingly, they are dragging away an Eloi. He notices them disappear into a well in the ground. When he asks about the creatures, the Eloi seem worried. They tell him that the creatures are called Morlocks. They live underground and only come out at night.

有一天清晨，他在森林里看见好几个白皮肤、长得像猿猴的生物。令他震惊的是，他们正在拖行一名伊洛人，他看到他们消失于地面水井中。当他向伊洛人问起这群生物时，他们似乎很担忧。他们告诉他这些生物叫做莫洛克，他们住在地底、只在夜晚出没。

 

The time traveler is curious about the Morlocks, so he goes down into the well. He discovers the shocking truth that the hideous Morlocks are humans too. They make clothes for the Eloi and operate machines to maintain the world above. They seem to be slaves but actually they raise the Eloi like farm animals to later eat them. These creatures, in effect, rule over the Eloi and are in power.

After several days together with Weena, the time traveler starts to have feelings for her, and decides to take her back to his time. But one day, a group of Morlocks appears in the forest. The creatures attack the pair and after a violent fight the time traveler survives, but Weena disappears. He is heartbroken and runs back to the Eloi city.

与威娜共度数天之后，时光旅人开始对她产生了情感，决定带她回到自己的时空。然而有一天，一群莫洛克人出现在森林里，并攻击他们两人。在一场激烈的打斗后，时光旅人活了下来，但威娜却消失了。他感到伤心欲绝，便跑回伊洛城。

 

There he surprisingly discovers the doors to the small building are open and sees this as his chance to return home. He walks cautiously inside but finds the Morlocks have surrounded him. As the Morlocks grab him, the time traveler jumps into the machine, struggles to flip the switch, and finally disappears. The machine’s dials turn quickly as goes back in time.

He returns to the 19^th century and tells his friends what happened, but no one believes him. Despite this, he decides to travel in time again the next day. He promises his friends he will be back soon, but the time traveler shoots off into time and never returns again.
