Ukuleles are fun, portable, and more popular than ever. Despite being the baby of the guitar family, the “uke” has grown into the darling of the music world. And since appearing on the TV drama In Time With You (我可能不会爱你), the instrument has become more and more mainstream in Taiwan.
乌克丽丽有趣、携带便利，而且比以往更加受欢迎。尽管在吉他家族中年纪最小，乌克丽丽已成为音乐世界的宠儿。而自从在电视剧《我可能不会爱你》中亮相后，这个乐器在台湾已变得越来越主流。
The ukulele was originally crafted in Hawaii in the late 19th century by immigrants from Portugal. Roughly a century later, a native Hawaiian musician, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, made the world take notice of the ukulele with his hit version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. His beautiful song inspired many other musicians, including members of The Beatles, to pick up the four-stringed instrument.

Although some famous names have strummed the ukulele, you don’t have to be a musical genius to play one. This four-stringed musical instrument is not so complicated as the ever-popular six-stringed guitar. Because many beginner ukuleles cost less than NT$1,000, they are quite affordable as well. As light as they are, carrying them around is no sweat. So whether you are a musical master or totally tone-deaf, you should give the uke a try.
鼎鼎大名的人弹奏乌克丽丽，不代表你也得有音乐天份才能玩。这种四弦的乐器没有广受欢迎的六弦吉他来得复杂。许多初阶的乌克丽丽要价不到新台币一仟元，因此也相对负担得起。像乌克丽丽如此轻盈，带着它们到处走毫不费力。所以，无论你是音乐大师或绝对音痴，你都应该试一试乌克丽丽。
