terminal cancer patient in France had to take the wheel of his ambulance, and get to the hospital, because the driver suffered a heart attack. Christian Nayet, a 60-year-old retired man, was being taken to a hospital by ambulance for tests, but the man behind the wheel began to feel tingling in his fingers. Nayet took over the driving and went to a nearby hospital. He even provided the ailing driver with a drug to aid him during the emergency.

Nayet was able to control the situation and convince the driver to trust him by saying, “My life is not in danger, but yours is.” He couldn’t operate the siren but he did manage to turn on the ambulance’s emergency lights, which let him get through traffic more quickly.

Nayet’s bravery and quick reflexes most likely saved the driver’s life, hospital workers said. Despite being very sick, he pulled the ambulance into the proper area for incoming patients and gave emergency workers accurate information. As for his deed, Nayet was quick to be humble, saying, “Anyone would have done it.”
