I don’t usually have problems with teachers or school monitors, but I got in trouble twice this week. Both times it was Mr. Chang who got in my face about the smallest things. He seems to pick on everyone in my class. On Tuesday after school, he caught me walking with my shirt not tucked in. it was outside the school building and I was just trying to kick back a little bit. Two days later, he busted me again for wearing my socks over pants, but I was only cracking a joke. That guy needs to take it easy.
I talked on the phone (far away from Mr. Chang) with Mandy about it. She’s totally in my camp. Dress codes are too strict and annoy lots of students at school; they shouldn’t matter after the final bell. Besides, would it be the end of the world if students wore jeans and dyed their hair? Mandy has a strict school monitor too, and his name is Mr. Chang as well. Those guys must be bros.

Dress Codes at School
Many schools require their students to follow strict dress codes. These codes tell students what to wear, how to wear it, and what not to wear. More often than not, piercings, dyed hair, makeup, and tattoos are forbidden. As for the uniform itself, clothes must be neat and properly tucked. Some students complain that such regulations stifle their freedom, but these measures are important for several reasons.
Schools without dress codes face constant challenges from the fashion world. Some fashionable apparel may be inappropriate for school, perhaps by exposing too much skin. Schools want to focus on education, not on debates about whether wearing torn jeans breaks the rules. On the other hand, uniforms greatly reduce such problems. Nobody will make fun of you for wearing your school uniform. Furthermore, uniforms show that you are part of a community. Students even behave better when in a uniform. As a bonus, parents can save money by not having to keep their kids looking trendy at school. In conclusion, dress codes can solve many problems before they ever pop up.
