Best served with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks, Buffalo wings leave most people licking their fingers and begging for more. Whether baked or fried, Buffalo wings have not only become ingrained in America’s national food culture, but have spread with increasing popularity worldwide.

Although there are conflicting versions of the Buffalo wings legend, most give credit to the Anchor bar in Buffalo, New York, as the original home of the wings, and to Teressa Bellissimoas their inventor. Nevertheless, even the various members of the Bellissimo family, who owned the Anchor bar, recalled the night that changed their lives somewhat differently.

The most popular version goes that Teressa’s son Dominic and his friends came to the bar looking for a quick, late-night snack. Teressa was preparing to make chicken stock with a bunch of wings, and improvised.
