James Chack, Ph.D., is leading a group of students on an academic exchange to Taiwan. Director Lisa Jou meets him at the hotel after the group’s arrival from the airport:
L: Good morning, Doctor Chack. It’s nice to finally meet you.
J: Likewise. Please call me Jim, Director Jou. How about a cup of coffee?
L: And you can tell me Lisa. Coffee? Sure. There’s a café across the lobby. How was your flight?
J: No complaints. I have a few questions regarding the finalized schedule you sent me. Will we still be taking a campus tour after breakfast today?
L: Absolutely, if the students are up to it. The tour includes orientation visits to the library and the computer center.
J: Some of the students are very keen to get started on the research component of this exchange. In fact, one group has already asked if they can use this afternoon for library research. Would that be OK?
L: If they like. This afternoon’s excursion to Danshui is optional, but we would like all students to attend tonight’s banquet.
J: I’ll inform the students. For the trip tomorrow to the National Palace Museum, I notice lunch boxes will be provided. However, there are three vegetarians in the group.
L: That’s no problem. Now, how about that coffee?
