A 60-year-old recently underwent a drastic makeover that has transformed it into one of Taipei’s most stunning landmarks. In late May, Israeli artist Yaacov Agam unveiled his most recent artwork, The Heart of the Fountainhead, on the walls of the Shuiyuan Market Building on Roosevelt Road. As is the ___1___ with all of Agam’s work, it must be viewed from multiple angles if you want to see the whole picture.

一楝60岁的老建筑最近彻底改头换面了一番，成为台北市最另人惊艳的地标之一。五月底时，以色列艺术家亚科夫．亚刚在罗斯福路的水源市场外墙上发表了他的新作：《水源之心》。这件作品如同亚刚的所有作品一样，你必须从数个角度观赏才能看到全貌。

Agam was born in 1928 in Rishon LeZion, in ___2___ was then British-controlled Palestine. He became interested in art as a boy and was drawn into the world of abstract creations. He would go on to become one of the foremost ___3___ in the world of kinetic art. Sculptures ___4___ by kinetic artists either move on their own or ___5___ to move when you look at them from different vantage points.

The Heart of the Fountainhead, which was made from ___6___ panels that cover the building’s air conditioning units, is a perfect example of kinetic art. From the left of the artwork, viewers see a blue and white grid with geometric shapes such as ovals, circles, and triangles scattered intermittently around the design. From the right, a rainbow that coils toward a white center can be seen. Those who view the artwork from below, ___7___ in front of the piece, can see a mixture of these two compositions. Order and chaos, yin and yang, night and day – all of these ___8___ themes have a role to play in Agam’s latest creation.
