One prime example is Taiwan’s very own stinky tofu, which once made the news when a Taipei restaurant was fined ___2___ neighbors’ complains that its tofu was too stinky!

It is perhaps Sweden, though, that can lay claim to the smelliest food of all. “Surströmming,” a kind of fermented herring with a smell similar to rotten eggs, is loved by many Swedes but hated by almost everyone else. It is sold ___6___ pressurized cans, which have a habit of exploding when pierced, leading to its banishment from some airline flights. Whatever one thinks of such smelly foods, they ___7___ fail to provoke a strong reaction. As the old saying goes, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.”
