If you stroll down the aisles of any toy store, you’re bound to find several entertaining toys and games. ___1___ For over 75 years, children and adults have been interlinking these colorful blocks and various parts together to build some truly amazing things.

LEGO bricks were the brainchild of the Danish inventor Ole Kirk Christiansen. In 1932, he opened the LEGO Group and began manufacturing toys. ___2___ At first, LEGO pieces were crafted exclusively from wood. But, after the company’s warehouse burned down in 1950, he decided to move in a different direction and began using plastic instead. ___3___ To this day, the LEGO Group’s obsession with perfection continues, as it aims to craft each part with the utmost precision.

乐高积木是丹麦发明家奥尔．科克．克里斯蒂安森独创的发明。1932年时他创办了乐高集团并开始生产玩具。这家公司的名字来自于丹麦的词组leg godt，意指「好好地玩」。起初，乐高的零件都是木制的。但是在公司的仓库于1950年烧毁后，他决定转而采用不同的材料，而开始用塑料取代木头。近几年来，乐高的积木组合不断进步，因为公司使积木的色彩更加鲜艳多样并增强其耐用度。直到现今，乐高集团仍执着于追求完美，目标是以最精密的方法制作每块积木。

To date, billions of blocks have been produced and thousands of theme sets are available – each designed around fun, interesting topics, such as space exploration, robots, and pirates. ___4___ For even more LEGO fun, fans can head to one of the four Legoland amusement parks and go on rides constructed with – you guessed it – LEGO bricks. ___5___.
