China Becomes World’s Second Largest Economy
After overtaking Germany as the world’s 3rd largest economy in 2007, China’s financial success has kept on rolling. In 2010, the nation catapulted past Japan to become the world’s second largest economy. Despite losing the number two position which they’d held for over 40 years, the Japanese seemed to take the news in stride, seeing China’s success as a victory for Asia. In addition, many Japanese companies are excited by the potential to launch new product lines in China in the near future – as Japan is already the world’s biggest exporter to China. Many economists are applauding China, as its growth has helped the overall world economy to rebound from the recession. China has emerged from its recent triumphs as the world’s top energy consumer and it has also become the largest car market. If China maintains its current pace, it will overtake the U.S. as the world’s largest economy before 2030.
Widescreen Tablets are on the Way 宽屏幕平版计算机出炉
In 2010, tablet computers lived up to the hype surrounding them and emerged as the hottest trend in consumer electronics. Industry analysts are now speculating that tablet shipments will increase by 200% this year. Although Apple’s iPad has led the way so far as the top brand, they will have plenty of competition to deal with. In particular, companies are targeting one of the iPad’s weak spots to gain some market share. Many manufacturers are launching tablets which feature widescreen displays, as some iPad owners have complained that watching videos on the device is frustrating due to its sheet-of-paper-like dimensions. Samsung’s tablets will have a 16:9 ratio on their displays, which matches the format that movies are designed for. Motorola, LG, Blackberry, and several others also plan to throw their hats in the ring as well.
