Yungho, in southern Taipei County, is home to the first exhibition center in the world devoted to global religions. The Museum of World Religions aspires not to preach but to inform, as visitors are invited on what is, above all, an educational journey through the seven-story building. ___1___ In this way, the museum can be said to belong equally to every faith.

位于台北县南部的永和市，有一座世界上第一个献给全球宗教的展览中心。世界宗教博物馆志于提供信息而非传播教义，因为参观者受邀进入这7层楼的建筑，所参与的是以教育为主要目标的旅程。馆内收藏品注重于以不偏颇的方式提供各主要信仰的信息。如此一来，此博物馆可以说是平等地属于每个信仰。

___2___ On achieving enlightenment, the Buddhist monk knew his goal. He would establish a museum to educate people about the world’s faiths. The institute would serve to fulfill people’s spiritual needs and help them find solace or guidance in difficult times. ___3___ “Love is the common ground of religions,” he says. With love and peace at the heart of his project, Master Hsin Tao opened the venue in 2001, in the presence of a number of international religious figures.

Alongside the ancient religious artifacts one would anticipate finding, Master Hsin Tao made a point of emphasizing the scientific and the technological in many displays. He believes that embracing modernity captures the interest of young people. ___4___ A display of miniature models is one particularly striking attraction. Each model represents a piece of notable religious architecture. ___5___ Each part of the exhibit is arranged to encourage a dialogue between religions. The hope is that visitors will learn something of the Master’s doctrine: “Respect for all faiths, tolerance for all cultures, love for all life.”
