The anticipation in the air is palpable as a crowd of reporters and Apple enthusiasts wait for Apple founder Steve Jobs to unveil his latest technological triumph: the iPhone. With an excited and confident smile, Jobs takes the stage to demonstrate the phone’s amazing features. He started with a bold statement: “After today, I don’t think anyone is going to look at these phones in the same way.”

Feel like listening to music? Draw your fingers across the display to flip through your music library. The screen also features a full keyboard for tapping out text messages.

Although phones with extra functions have been on the market for years, what makes the iPhone so special is how well it combines its different utilities together. Its extra features are not hasty add-ons; they are meant to be as state-of-the-art as the phone itself. Apple has always tried to combine new technology inside an attractive, user-friendly design. Jobs has said, “Design is not just what it looks like and feel like. Design is how it works.”
