Kosovo Becomes a New Nation 科索沃建国
On February 17th, 2008, ethnic Albanians joyously chanted “We are free at last!” as Kosovo declared itself independent. However, Serbs in the north lashed back with protests, saying Kosovo will always be part of Serbia.

Ethnic Albanians make up over 90% of Kosovo’s population. For many years they fought for independence from Serbia. Kosovo eventually gained protection from the U.N. in 1999 and achieved the stability it required to establish a new independent government.

Mystery of Muscle Fatigue Solved 肌肉疲劳解密
For years, people believed that muscles became tired because they released lactic acid when working. That theory was recently discredited. Now, a new theory was emerged. Dr. Andrew Marks of Columbia University discovered that our muscles become fatigued because they leak calcium.

Dr. Marks found that as muscles leak calcium, the contractions of the muscles become weaker. The leaked calcium also stimulates an enzyme that eats away at muscle fibers, which also contributed to muscle fatigue. Dr. Marks and his team have developed an experimental drug that blocks calcium leaks in muscle tissue, but it has yet to be approved for human use.
