Barack Obama Wins U.S. Presidential Election  欧巴马赢得美国总统大选

After running a vigorous election campaign, on Nov. 4, 2008, U.S. Senator Barack Obama won the race for the presidency, becoming the first African-American to represent his country as President of the United States.

历经激烈的选战后，美国参议员欧巴马于2008年11月4日赢得总统选举，成为美国第一位非裔总统。

Obama had to overcome great difficulties along the way. He first competed against Hillary Clinton, a former First Lady, for the Democratic nomination. Then, he went on to defeat John McCain, a respected war veteran, to win the presidency.

Researchers at the University of Virginia took samples of frequently touched surfaces like these in 30 homes and discovered traces of rhinovirus in 42% of them. This virus is believed to cause over 50% of all colds.
