As people become increasingly aware of environmental issues these days, the concept of LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) makes more and more sense. Leading a lifestyle that is not only good for your body, but for the world around you, is something we should all endeavor to do. And what better way to start than by hopping on your bike?
近日来随着人们的环保意识日增，乐活（健康且永续的生活方式）的概念也越来越显得有其道理。对身体、也对周遭世界有益的生活方式，是我们每个人都应该努力做到的事。要开始乐活，还有什么方法比跳上自行车更好？
Cycling tours are a growing brand of tourism. It’s a great form of exercise as well as an ideal way to appreciate beautiful scenery at a more leisurely pace. What’s more, biking means you don’t need to worry about polluting the atmosphere with dirty exhaust fumes.
自行车旅游是越来越盛行的旅游方式。它是很好的运动，也是以更悠闲的步调欣赏美景的理想方式。此外，骑自行车也意味着你不必担心会排放任何肮脏的废气污染空气。
With its abundant natural beauty and rich culture, all within fairly manageable distances, Taiwan certainly has what it takes to be a leading destination for cycling enthusiasts. To this end, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) recently joined forces with Taiwanese bike manufacturer Giant to step up efforts promoting cycling in Taiwan to the world at large. Among the measures implemented, a specially dedicated website has been set up (http://eng.taiwan.net.tw/cycling), and information brochures have been distributed through Giant’s thousands of branch stores across the globe. Even Giant’s 73-year-old founder, Liu Chin-piao, got in on the act last May by completing a cycling tour around the whole island!

As part of their promotional campaign, TTB and Giant have publicized the best cycling routes that the island has to offer. These routes showcase the remarkable diversity of Taiwan’s landscape, from rugged mountain paths to spectacular coastlines and crystal clear lakes.
宣传活动的一部份，就是由台湾观光局和捷安特推广本岛的最佳自行车路线。这些路线展现台湾景观非凡的多样性，从崎岖的山路到风景壮丽的海岸线及清澈透明的湖泊等。
Out of the many routes, five have been highlighted by the website as the pick of the bunch. Firstly, the path along the left bank of scenic Tamsui river in the town of Bali, just north of Taipei, takes the rider through a riverside nature reserve and past relaxing beaches. Then there is the popular route around the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, which should be at the top of any cycling sightseer’s list. Taiwan’s oldest cycling path, along the Dongfong Green Passage near Taichung, is also one of its most picturesque, taking in fields of colorful flowers and lovely bridges. And the ride around the old town of Guanshan, in eastern Taiwan, is sure to charm any visitor. Finally, no showcase of Taiwan’s natural beauty would be complete without a route through the spectacular and world-renowned Taroko Gorge.
